Missing 16-Year Old Girl Probably Met Internet Acquaintance

Detectives are still attempting to track Amanda's whereabouts.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Detectives from the Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit have now determined that the disappearance of 16-year old Amanda Bentz is not an abduction type case, instead related to an interstate friendship developed over the Internet.

The detectives on the case say they are confident that Amanda left home on her own free will and is possibly traveling with the 19-year old male she had been communicating with on-line.

Investigators say they have positively identified the 19-year old Michigan man and have been in contact with his family.

His family is reported to have advised detectives that the man left Michigan on a Greyhound bus to travel to Vancouver, Washington. Detectives from Michigan have had limited contact with the male subject on his cell phone.

Detectives have learned that Amanda went to a location away from her home to meet with the man, and then left the area.
