(MADRAS) - Private 1st Class Thomas Tucker joined the U.S. Army in July 2002, stating that he wanted to do something positive and was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky as a member of B Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.
In a recent telephone message that remains on their telephone answering machine, Thomas sent the following greeting. "Be proud of me Mom, I'm defending my country. Tell sis and my nephews hello for me, I'm OK, I'm on my way."
Thomas Tucker's family released that call, it is included in this story.
The Tucker family is waiting the arrival of the team from the Department of the Army and DoD with additional information on the actions being taken by the Army in this situation.
Wesley and Margaret Tucker and the rest of the family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the communities of Madras and Central Oregon for their wonderful support during this time of stress and uncertainty. The Sheriff's Office has and is continuing to provide support to allow them time to deal with the information received and that continues to come to them regarding the disappearance of their son."
They further would like to express their greatest appreciation to all who have contacted them with their offers of support and understanding. The community has been a terrific aid to them in this time of uncertainty. From the flags placed in the yard and around town to the prayers and words of encouragement.
They also request that people around the nation pause at 10:00 AM everyday to remember the soldier lost in this action and to pray for the two soldiers yet to be returned to their families.
"We are praying for the safe return of our son, Tom, and Pvt. 1st Class Kristian Menchaca and our deepest sympathy is with the family of Spc. David Babineau."
