The teen was located hiding in bushes at the Wheatland Ferry boat ramp and taken into custody on multiple charges.
(KEIZER) - A 19-year-old Woodburn resident was arrested Thursday morning after he attempted to elude OSP troopers and Keizer police officers on motorcycle at high speeds on Interstate 5 and Keizer area streets.
OSP Spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says at about 10:00 AM, OSP Salem Area Command troopers received complaints of a motorcycle southbound on Interstate 5 near Woodburn riding wheelies and passing in between traffic. At about 10:08 AM, OSP Senior Trooper Derek Bischoff saw the motorcycle southbound at the Brooks interchange. Senior Trooper Bischoff overtook the motorcyclist as it took the Keizer exit.
Senior Trooper Bischoff attempted to stop the 2002 Yamaha R1 motorcycle as it turned right into Keizer. The motorcycle sped up to speeds over 100 mph in a 35 mph zone and eluded Senior Trooper Bischoff as it went into Keizer. Assistance was requested from Keizer Police Department and he was located by Keizer police heading north out of Keizer on Wheatland Road.
19-year-old Artem Kravets, from Woodburn, was riding a 2002 Yamaha R1 motorcycle, which was registered to his sister. The motorcycle's rear tire had tire cord showing, which Senior Trooper Bischoff was able to see and describe during the pursuit Hastings said.
Kravets driving privileges are suspended.
Kravets was lodged at the Marion County Jail for Reckless Driving, Felony Attempt to Elude on a Vehicle, and Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot.
He was also cited for Exceeding the Posted Speed, 115 mph in 35 mph zone, and Driving While Suspended.
