Record heat is expected this weekend through Monday in the Willamette Valley.

(SALEM) - This is a Salem-News.com Salem-Area Weather Alert From The National Weather Service, with Kevin Hays Reporting.

The Hottest Weather of the year will likely come to the inland areas of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington this weekend.

High Temperatures in much of the interior of northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington will be around 90 on Saturday and in the mid to upper 90`s Sunday. Monday will be the hottest day with highs near 100 degrees in most of the Willamette Valley.

The hot weather will gradually moderate beginning Tuesday, but highs will remain well above seasonal normals.

Be ready for the rapid change to hot weather this weekend after the prolonged period of mostly near or below normal temperatures that have occurred since late May.

Be sure to drink plenty of water this weekend, and avoid long exposure to excessive exertion outdoors.
