(DALLAS) - The Polk County Youth Program is seeking dedicated people who want to become foster parents for at-risk youth.
Caring homes are needed for youths ages 12-18 who have emotional and behavioral issues.
Youths who are part of the Polk County Youth program have progressed through the system, have a criminal record, or are on parole from the Oregon Youth Authority.
The program, however does not accept youths who are considered a danger to the community such as fire setters, and un-treated sex offenders.
Foster parents receive $700 a month, per child, and an additional $450 a month for the youth for maintenance things such as clothes, school supplies, room and board, and allowance. Pay is on a tax-free, contractual basis.
The Polk County Youth Program, is divided into two programs, the OYA Mentor Program, and the DHS Shelter Evaluation program.
The Polk County Youth Program can have between 12-14 youths who need a good foster home.
Providers also receive on-going training and must complete a certification training course by OYA and DHS.
The Polk Couth Youth Program is also seeking foster parents to take youths on a temporary basis for when emergencies happen with current foster parents.
