UPDATE... The patient who had been on unauthorized leave from Oregon State Hospital's Salem campus since Sunday has voluntarily returned to the hospital, officials said Tuesday afternoon.

(SALEM) - A 25-year-old civilly committed patient remained at large Sunday afternoon after being reported on unauthorized leave while on an overnight pass to visit his mother in north Portland.

Meanwhile, a second patient on unauthorized leave since last weekend from the State Hospital's Portland campus has been returned. 18-year old Joshua Kuns, who had been civilly committed in May from Washington County, was returned late Saturday night by Tigard police.

Hospital officials said Samuel Serrill, a patient on the hospital's Salem campus, had an overnight pass to visit his mother who lives on Portland's North Moore Avenue. Serrill's mother told hospital officials she last saw her son when they said good night at midnight and, when she got up Sunday morning, he was gone.

Serrill is described as a white male, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and short facial hair. When last seen, he was wearing dark clothing and black tennis shoes. He was first civilly committed to the State Hospital in May 2002 from Linn County.

Hospital officials reported Serrill's disappearance to Oregon State Police and Portland police.

Anyone knowing Serrill's whereabouts is asked to call Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888.
