Fund Set-Up For Chemawa Indian School Graduate Killed in Iraq

(SALEM) - A memorial service will be held Wednesday at Chemawa Indian School in Salem for a 2004 graduate who was killed in Iraq on December 3rd a school official said Tuesday night.

According to the Department of Defense 20-year old Army Cpl. Billy B. Farris, of Bapchule, Arizona., died in Taji when an explosive detonated near his vehicle while he was conducting escort operations.

Farris was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Acting school supervisor Ted Mack said Farris, attended the school his junior and senior years and was a very outgoing and friendly student.

He joined the Army for educational opportinuties Mack said.
