(CANBY) - Canby police say the 13-year-old victim of the attempted abduction in Canby admitted to investigators that she was not truthful and the incident did not happen.

The victim reportedly has many personal issues happening at this time and did not state why she was not truthful.

Police said no charged will be filed.

Canby police are asking for the public's help in locating a man who allegedlly tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl.

Police say Tuesday evening at 3:30 PM, an unknown Hispanic male grabbed and attempted to forcefully drag the 13-year-old girl behind a vacant house located at N Holly Street and NW 6th in Canby.

The girl was able to fight the suspect and break free from his hold.

The victim ran away and reported the incident to the police.

The victim described the Hispanic male as being 64 inches tall, unknown weight and smelled like he had used a large amount of cologne.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Canby Police Department.
