Oregon House Speaker Merkley Appoints Guidelines Committee

Merley also announced that three House committees will see a change in membership, effective immediately.

(SALEM) - Oregon House Speaker Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) on Thursday appointed three members to the House Guidelines Committee.

The committee will regularly review the gift and travel ban guidelines approved in House rules on Monday, and suggest changes or further clarification as questions arise.

The members of the committee are: Rep. Sara Gelser (D-Corvallis), Chair; Rep. Phil Barnhart (D-Eugene); Rep. Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point).

Three House committees will see a change in membership, effective immediately:

Release Rep. Scott Bruun (R-West Linn) from the Human Services Committee.

Appoint Rep. Vic Gilliam (R-Silverton) to the Human Services Committee.

Designate Rep. Andy Olson (R-Albany) Vice-Chair of the Human Services Committee.

Release Rep. Dennis Richardson (R-Central Point) from the Consumer Protection Committee.

Appoint Rep. Patti Smith (R-Corbett) to the Consumer Protection Committee.

Release Rep. Karen Minnis (R-Wood Village) from the Health Care Committee.

Appoint Rep. Ron Maurer (R-Grants Pass) to the Health Care Committee.

Merkley also designated Vice-Chairs for the Joint Ways and Means Committee and Subcommittees.

Rep. Nancy Nathanson (D-Eugene), Vice-Chair, Joint Ways and Means Committee.

Rep. Jackie Dingfelder (D-Portland), Vice-Chair, Ways and Means Subcommittee on Natural Resources.

Rep. Carolyn Tomei (D-Milwaukie), Vice-Chair, Ways and Means Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development.

Rep. Deborah Boone (D-Seaside), Vice-Chair, Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Services.
