(SALEM) - Police say vandals with an apparent anti-war message damaged a sign at the Marine Corps Recruiting office in Salem late this week.

A Marine Corps recruiter contacted the Marion Sheriff's Office Friday to report damage that had been done to the sign on the roof of the U.S. Marine Corps recruiting station at 3060 Lancaster Dr NE in Salem. Investigators believe that it happened some time between the evening of Wednesday, February 7th and Friday morning.

The sign, a lighted sign of an American flag, had damage to the frame as well as the glass face. A homemade sign that said "Stop Illegal and Immoral War" had been put over the broken sign. A recruiter estimated the damage at between $200 and $300.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating but there are no suspects at this time.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503-588-5032.
