Collision With a Farm Vehicle Kills Tillamook Man

The crash is still under investigation with the assistance of an Oregon State Police crash reconstructionist.

(TILLAMOOK) - A Tillamook-area man died Friday afternoon from injuries sustained when the car he was driving crashed into the back of a farm implement westbound on Highway 6 just east of Tillamook.

Around 6:45 AM Friday, a 1990 Toyota two-door driven by

28-year old Ramiro Diaz-Mendoza of Tillamook, was westbound on Highway 6 near milepost 2 when it crashed into the back of a westbound 1992 Oregon Road Runner hay squeeze, a farm implement.

According to the farm implement operator, 37-year old Jason M. Sagar of Tillamook, Mr. Mendoza's speed at the time of impact was approximately 40 - 45 mph.

Ramiro Diaz-Mendoza sustained life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Tillamook County General Hospital. He was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland where he died.

Jason Sagar was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation with the assistance of an Oregon State Police crash reconstructionist. Troopers on the scene say the initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were contributing factors on the part of the victim.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Tillamook Work site and Astoria Area Command office are investigating the crash. Tillamook County Sheriff's Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
