In Salem, Portland, Oregon & SW Washington on Tuesday, April 17th Deadline

(PORTLAND) - The U.S. Postal Service urges customers to avoid Tuesday, April 17th, deadline-day crowds by mailing their income tax returns early and ensuring each envelope carries the proper postage.

For those who decide to wait until the deadline date, Post Offices in the Portland metropolitan area will collect and postmark tax returns until midnight on Tuesday, April 17th, 2007, from blue Postal Service collection boxes in front of 21 designated Post Offices, Stations and Branches. A list of these locations is provided below.

These collection boxes will be marked with special yellow signs verifying midnight pick-up in front of designated Post Offices only.

All other blue collection boxes without a yellow sign will be picked-up at their posted, regularly-scheduled times.

"The best option for those who have correct postage and just need the April 17th postmark,” said Portland Postmaster Shawneen Betha, β€œis to avoid the crowds by using the blue collection boxes marked with yellow signs and located in front of designated Post Offices in the Portland area.”

Below is a list of USPS locations with special "Tax Day" hours and/or services on Tuesday, April 17, 2007:
