Johnson Space Center Evacuated Over Reports of a Man With a Gun

The entire NASA complex is on hold, the gunman has allegedly been in place for over an hour.

(HOUSTON, Texas) - At 1:40 PM, a man with a gun is alleged to have infiltrated the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Every police SWAT team in the Houston area has converged on the federal facility.

The entire building has been evacuated. The man is identified as a white male in his fifty's, with a slim build.

All people entering the complex must show identification before entering. They are subject to search. All this leaves officials guessing as to how anyone could have entered the building with a gun.

Reports indicate that 100 people who normally work there are huddled outside waiting.

MSNBC further reports that NASA security personnel as well as Houston police responded to "a report about a person with a weapon" at Building 44 on the space center's campus, agency spokeswoman Lynette Madison told MSNBC.com. She said that personnel were evacuated from the building, and that the situation was "ongoing." SWAT teams were surrounding the building.

Other reports indicate that the gunman is reportedly barricaded in a second-floor office.

Police on the scene are saying they are not sure.
