State Police Investigating Body Found Along the Oregon Coast

(WALDPORT, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner are investigating the discovery of an unidentified body on the beach about two miles south of Waldport.

On Sunday at approximately 12:30 PM, a person walking on the beach about one mile south of Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site saw a body floating in the surf.

OSP, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Yachats Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

The badly decomposed unidentified body of an adult male was retrieved from the surf.

Following an initial inspection at the scene, the body was taken to a local funeral home pending a later examination by the medical examiner.

OSP troopers investigating the incident are checking any known missing person reports to develop leads in identifying the body.
