(PORTLAND) - Classes at Portland Community College Rock Creek campus are cancelled today after a threatening note found in a bathroom yesterday.
The campus was evacuated and then searched by six police K-9 teams. Nothing was found as a result of the search.
Summary of Tuesday's events:
On Tuesday, at about 12:30 PM, Washington County Sheriff's deputies responded to 17705 NW Springville Rd. located in unincorporated Washington County. This is the location of the PCC Rock Creek campus.
A threatening note was found by a PCC employee in one of the bathrooms on the campus. The note was seized by deputies and later taken to the Washington County Sheriff's Office Forensic Science Lab where it will be analyzed for any evidence.
The note made reference to the shootings last week on the Virginia Tech campus and stated that tomorrow would be the day the threats would be carried out at PCC.
PCC officials decided to evacuate the campus and suspend classes for the rest of the day.
The campus was searched by six K-9 teams from Hillsboro Police Department, Beaverton Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Six teams were brought in because the PCC campus is comprised of at least nine buildings and covers about 250 acres. After an extensive search nothing of any significance was found.
PCC Officials decided to cancel all classes at the Rock Creek campus Wednesday, April 25th.
This cancellation will affect approximately 3,000 students who attend PCC on the campus.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating this case and would like any information the public has on the individual or individuals who left this note.
