(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Oregon State Police arrested a 17-year old Molalla-area boy Thursday afternoon for a number of sex abuse charges.

OSP Spokesman Greg Hastings says the arrest relates to a criminal investigation of alleged sexual misconduct involving some members of the boy's high school basketball team during a December 2006 road trip.

Thursday at approximately 12:12 PM, OSP detectives and a trooper arrested the juvenile suspect at Molalla High School for Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, Harassment, Coercion, and Probation Violation.

The juvenile was transported to Donald E. Long Home detention facility in Portland where he will be detained pending juvenile court proceedings.

Oregon State Police launched the investigation in late January 2007, after learning through the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office that the investigation may involve more than one jurisdiction.

The OSP investigation is continuing. The juvenile suspect's name is being withheld at this time unless he will be charged as an adult.
