The event will be the first of its kind.
(SALEM) - The Marine Corps Family Foundation and the Marine Corps League Detachment 881 will hold a Gala honoring Oregon's military heroes, past and present June 16th. Connie Riecke is the mother of a U.S. Marine. She says the event is extremely important to anyone with a connection to someone who serves.
"This spectacular public event will honor all military branches including the Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy, Army, and National Guard and will include active duty, reserve, retired, and inactive members of the armed forces."
While military galas are not a new idea, Riecke says this event will bring together all branches of the military for a special evening that organizers say is hosted by the people of Oregon.
"The gala is scheduled for June 16th, 2007 in our capitol city, Salem, Oregon. Honorary guests include Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Oregon Gold Star parents, the Band of Brothers, and distinguished military dignitaries from across our nation."
She says individuals and businesses are invited to become Premiere Sponsors. There are a number of opportunities for businesses to participate. The people behind the event say all who participate will receive great promotional benefits and identifying support of our distinguished Oregon military.
