Firefighters Rescue Contractor from Concrete Pit

The Fire District's Technical Rescue Team utilized one of two cranes - used by contractors to transport tools and equipment across the job site, to bring the patient up and out of the concrete pit.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported construction accident at 18560 SW 85th Avenue in Tigard Today at 11:42 AM.

TVF&R Fire Spokesperson Karen Eubanks says that as crews arrived at the Clean Water Services site on 85th Avenue, they found an adult male lying in a large, 4-sided open concrete pit.

"Fire crews were told that the sub-contractor had fallen approximately 20 feet from a large crane where he had been working overhead."

Called to the scene to assist, Eubanks says the Fire District's Technical Rescue Team utilized one of two cranes - used by contractors to transport tools and equipment across the job site, to bring the patient up and out of the concrete pit.

"Although firefighters do not believe that the patient sustained life-threatening injuries, he was placed into the trauma system as a precaution and transported to OHSU."

The patient's identity and specific medical information are not being released due to HIPAA restrictions.
