All the area schools have been taken out of lockdown and children should be on their way home.
(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - A man who firefighters say threatened them with a gun, was shot to death by Hillsboro Police officers Wednesday afternoon. The incident resulted in several schools being placed in lockdown.
Hillsboro Police Officers responded to an area near SE Century and SE Lois St. to assist the Hillsboro Fire Department at 2:10 PM. Fire crews said they were being threatened by a man with a gun.
A spokesperson for Hillsboro Police says officers arrived and determined that the suspect had a rifle and a hand gun.
Officers called in the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team (SWAT) to take the suspect into custody.
The suspect involved in the incident was shot by multiple officers. The case is still under investigation and has been taken over by the Washington County Major Crimes Team. The suspect was transported by Life Flight to Emmanuel Hospital.
