(Earth-CCC) - While for nearly everyone the school year is drawing to conclusion, teachers across the Multiverse now gather to plan which students will be in their classes when the new school year begins.
Great care goes into creating balanced class lists: high/low academics, male/female, good/bad behavior issues. Public school teachers accept students however they arrive at school. Some are hungry. Some abused. Some come from dysfunctional families. Some do everything they can to prevent other students from learning. Teachers do the best they can.
On Earth-CCC things are different. Teacher merit pay has changed the model. Teachers are paid according to the test results of their students, but since their livelihoods are directly linked to test scores they may accept or reject students much as coaches do in sports.
What would this look like? Stay tuned for a preview... Perhaps we would do well to think twice before we accept this model as our own.
