(SALEM, Ore. ) - The 2007 Marion County Fair will host the first-ever Texas Hold-'Em Open Championship.
"Texas Hold-'Em is the most popular game on the planet rightnow," says fair promoter Dean Sweeney. "It has gone from gambling toan everyday game people play for fun."
"We're always looking for the hot new thing that will appeal toour fair visitors, and I think we really have a hit in this one, since the tournament will be one of many free activities the fair is hosting this year," says Sweeney.
The top 50 players will win prizes, and the winner of the tournament will receive an engraved silver bracelet from Jackson Jewelers.
Registration is free and the competition will be limited to the first 800 players who sign up.
