(ALOHA, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say a trooper arrested a Washington County man late Wednesday night after he crashed his car while attempting to lose the trooper in the St. Paul area.
Around 11:40 PM, OSP Senior Trooper Roger Reid says he attempted to stop a 2004 Subaru four-door after it came into radar at 110 mph eastbound on McKay Road near Highway 219.
Reid turned around to stop the car but says it sped up to over 120 mph when he activated overhead emergency lights and siren. The car continued southbound on Highway 219 through St. Paul and south towards Salem on county roads.
About 7 miles south of St. Paul on Mahoney Road, investigators say the car was attempting to negotiated "S" curves when it lost control and rolled several times into a field.
The driver, 23-year old Loui T. Arnold III of Aloha, was able to get out of the totaled car on his own and was taken into custody without further incident. Medical personnel checked him at the scene before he was transported to Marion County Jail where he was lodged for Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief.
He was also cited for Violation of Basic Rule to wit: 111 mph in a 55 mph zone, and Driving While Suspended.
