The Kings were married in 1941. They passed away this week leaving a legacy.
(MORRO BAY, Calif.) - It is being called one of the greatest love stories of all time. The parents of Salem-News.com founder Tim King passed away this week after 66 years of marriage.
Charles and Nellie King died within 12 hours of one another in their home in Morro Bay, California. Charles was 90, Nellie was 84.
Their sons, Tim and his older brothers, Rick and Ken King, say their parent's life was one filled with love and inventions.
Charles King built the first motor home that ever cruised the highways of America. Built in 1947 from aircraft aluminum on the chassis of an old car called a "Graham," the "camp car" as it became known was literally assembled with parts from dozens of cars, handcrafted parts and aircraft components.
Nellie King's main love beyond her husband and children was her antique collection which eventually became the inventory for the Glass Basket Antiques in Morro Bay which she owned and operated for over twenty years after Charles' retirement.
Charles and Nellie King are being laid to rest together today in Cayucos, California at 2:00 PM. There will be an expanded article on their life.
