Police say alcohol and controlled substances were factors in the crash.
(WALDPORT, Ore. ) - A Waldport, Oregon man has been arrested following a fatal single vehicle rollover traffic crash that killed one of his passengers and sent another to a Portland hospital in critical condition.
Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies and the Seal Rock Fire Department were dispatched to the crash at milepost 2 on the North Bayview Rd. just north of Waldport Thursday night just before 8:00 PM.
The initial investigation revealed that 20-year-old Colin Michael Grady of Waldport, was operating a white Toyota 4Runner westbound on North Bayview Rd. and failed to negotiate a curve at milepost 2.
The 4Runner rolled over in the roadway and came to rest in the driveway of a residence.
Grady and his passengers, 28-year-old Rodney Olsen of Waldport, and 24-year-old Kelly Andrews of Cottage Grove, were transported to Newport Pacific Communities Hospital via ambulance.
Olsen died of injuries sustained in the traffic crash.
Andrews was LifeFlighted to Emanuel Hospital in Portland where he is listed in critical condition.
Grady exhibited signs of intoxication and it was determined that alcohol and controlled substances were factors in the crash.
After receiving medical care, Grady was taken into custody at the hospital and was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree, Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
Grady posted bail and was released from jail on Monday police said.
