Oregon Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for Psilocybin Magic Mushrooms

(PRINEVILLS, Ore.) - An Oregon State Police trooper arrested a Prineville-area man Friday afternoon when a traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 2.5 ounces of Psilocybin mushrooms in his car on Highway 126 west of Prineville.

Friday at approximately 5:30 PM, OSP Trooper Erich Timko says he stopped a 2002 Nissan Sentra for a speed violation after traveling at 83 mph in a 55 mph speed zone on Highway 126 near milepost 13. During the stop the driver was identified as 21-year old Christopher Johnson of Prineville.

Christopher JohnsonA subsequent search during the traffic stop led to the discovery of 8 bags containing Psilocybin mushrooms in a backpack, as well as other evidence used in the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Johnson was arrested and lodged in the Crook County Jail for Unlawful Manufacturing, Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance to wit: Psilobyin Mushrooms.

OSP troopers from Prineville and Bend were involved in the stop and investigation.
