(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in northeast Salem that stemmed from the pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
Salem police spokesman Lt. Dan Dietz says the incident occurred near 418 45th Ave in northeast Salem.
The suspects fled the vehicle on foot, and one suspect confronted the officer.
The male suspect was shot and killed after a short struggle.
Neighbors in the area said they heard two shots, yet police are not confirming that number.
The officer was injured, but not shot, during the struggle with the suspect and was evaluated at Salem Hospital and released.
The two other suspects are still on the run.
The Officer involved in the shooting was identified as Corporal John Humphreys a 16 year veteran of the Salem Police Department.
The Oregon State Police, Marion County Sheriff's Office and Marion County District Attorney's office are investigating the shooting.
