Two Arrested for Salem Robbery‏

No one in the incident was injured.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff's deputies say they have made an arrest in the September 19th armed robbery that happened in the parking lot of the Silver Dollar Tavern located at 375 Lancaster Drive SE.

The victim, 45-year old Michael Gene Evanoff, told police he was confronted by two suspects one was armed with a handgun. The suspects allegedly took the victims wallet and left in a vehicle toward the Santiam Regal Theater parking lot.

Sergeant David G. Cornforth, Marion County Sheriff's Office says the victim followed them in his car and as he approached the theater parking lot he heard what sounded like a single gun shot, however, he did not observe any shots being fired.

"He continued to follow the suspects in their vehicle to Interstate 5 and Kuebler Street SE at which time the suspects parked the car and began to walk toward the freeway."

The victim continued on stopping at a phone to call 911. Suspects were located by Salem Police walking away from the car. Subsequent investigation by the Sheriff's office and Salem Police led to the recovery of the weapon.

23-year old Luis Esquivel-Avalo was charged with first degree Robbery, Felon in Possession of a weapon and parole violation.

25-year old Juan Calderilla-Duran was also charged with Robbery 1 and parole violation. The incident is still under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. No one in this incident was injured.
