Driver in September Crash Dies from Injuries

Oregon State Police troopers from the McMinnville Area Command are continuing the investigation with the assistance of an OSP collision re-constructionist.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The driver of a van that collided with the back of a farm tractor September 20th on Highway 221 near Dayton reportedly died Sunday from her injuries. The farm tractor's operator received non-life threatening injuries.

Police say 60-year old Frances Dunlap of Dayton, was driving a 2005 Ford van on Highway 221 near milepost 3.5, when the vehicle struck the rear of a northbound John Deere farm tractor driven by 18-year old Luis Mojica of from Dayton. The crash happened just after 6:30 AM.

Frances Dunlap was critically injured and transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, where she died on October 7th from injuries sustained in the crash. There were no passengers in her vehicle. The air bag in her vehicle deployed and she was using safety restraints at the time of the crash.

Luis Mojica received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital. Safety restraints were not being utilized at the time of the crash.

Oregon State Police troopers from the McMinnville Area Command are continuing the investigation with the assistance of an OSP collision re-constructionist. Dayton Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
