HOME Youth and Resource Center provides assistance to at-risk youth in job skills, education, GED preparation, and social skills.
(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion Soil and Water Conservation District Director Patrick Sieng (I-Salem) and State Rep. Brian Clem (D-Salem) are scheduled to tour Salem’s Heal Our Mentality and Environment (HOME) Youth and Resource Center in response to Marion and Polk’s 10-year Plan to End Homelessness initiative.
Sieng, who serves on the board of directors for the Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency, will tour the center Wednesday, Oct. 10th from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM with Clem and agency staff to begin looking at needs for area at-risk youth.
“We have a very serious issue here in our community with poverty and homelessness,” said Sieng. “It’s time to work together as a community to develop solutions. I’m excited to work with Rep. Clem on these issues facing our community.”
HOME Youth and Resource Center provides assistance to at-risk youth in job skills, education, GED preparation, and social skills. The center also provides meals and basic support to homeless youth. HOME is a program of the Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency, which recently led an effort to develop a 10-Year Plan to end Homelessness.
Clem is serving in his first term as State Representative for House District 21 in Salem. He owns On-Site PC and co-owns a Hood River orchard with his wife Carol Suzuki.
Clem is a former Oregon State Univ. Student Body President, congressional staffer, and chair of the Oregon Student Assistance Commission.
Sieng is serving in his first term as Director for the Marion Soil & Water Conservation District. He is a Marion County native, 2001 graduate of McNary High School in Keizer, and is completing a business degree at Portland State Univ. Sieng serves on the Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency Board of Directors, is an aide to State Rep. Jean Cowan (D-Newport), and owns PK Strategies, a website design business.
