(DALLAS, Ore. ) - One driver was killed and another driver escaped injury in a T-bone collision at the intersection of Bridgeport Road and the Kings Valley Highway south of Dallas.
At approximately 7:10 PM, 49-year-old Daniel Jordan, from Falls City, was driving westbound on Bridgeport Road in a 1993 red Ford Escort when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with the Kings Valley Highway.
65-year-old Nicholas Lutz, from Florence, was driving northbound on the Kings Valley Highway (SR 223) in his 2000 white Ford F-350 pickup towing an 18 foot box utility trailer. Mr. Lutz did not have a stop sign. The front of the Ford pickup struck the driver's side of the Ford Escort.
Mr. Jordan was deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been notified of his death. Safety restraint usage is sill under investigation. Mr. Lutz was apparently not injured. He was wearing a shoulder and lap belt.
Troopers from the Salem Area Command are investigating the crash.
Polk County Sheriff's Deputies and Dallas Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
No enforcement action is anticipated.
The Kings Valley Highway was restricted to one lane of traffic during the investigation.
