The AP reports that almost two dozen states may have to trim the number of families covered under a children's health program soon, if lawmakers and the Bush administration don't reach an settlement over how much money should be targeted for the program's survival.
Harry Reid, Democrat from Nevada and Senate Majority Leader, says a bipartisan group of lawmakers had already struck a compromise. "For those who talk about compromise, that's what we've done," he told reporters.
Bush's White House says it is prepared to talk about it with a goal of reaching a solution. The White House says it's ready to talk about compromise.
