The crash happened on South Barnards Road and South Elisha Road. Of the four injured, three patients were Lifelighted.
(CANBY, Ore.) - Several people were injured in a car crash at the intersection of S. Barnards Road and S Elisha Road in Canby this evening. A pregnant woman was among the injured.
Canby Fire Division Chief Troy Buzalsky says crews were dispatched to the scene at 6:35 PM.
"When firefighters arrived they quickly triaged the scene and determined that they had four patients, two who were out of their vehicles walking, and two still in the mini-van, which was sitting in the middle of a front lawn."
He says that after additional medical assessment by firefighters from both Canby and Molalla Fire, two Lifeflight units were activated and Gingerich Farm was selected as the landing zone.
Once the landing zone was set up, Buzalsky says the Landing Zone Manager carefully coordinated air transport units with ground ambulances.
"As crews were continuing to treat and extricate patients, Lifeflight notified the Command Post that their first patient had been delivered to OHSU and they could make a "Hot Turnaround" and transport an additional patient."
It didn't end there either, Buzalsky says Incident Commander Tom O'Connor ordered their return, and a third patient was airlifted to OHSU.
In total, four patients were treated and transported from the crash scene. The three patients airlifted to OHSU included an adult male, and adult pregnant female, and a child. All three patients were entered into the Trauma System.
The fourth patient was transported to Kaiser Sunnyside with minor injuries. Names and ages are not available on any of these patients.
The Clackamas Sheriffs Office is the law enforcement agency investigating this accident.
