(SCAPOOSE, Ore.) - Police say a two-vehicle crash this morning on Highway 30 two miles south of Scappoose injured fourteen people. One of the involved vehicles, a worker transport bus, had eleven occupants. The pickup involved in the crash had three occupants.
According to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Randy Fargher, this morning at approximately 6:15 AM a worker transport bus with eleven Hispanic occupants was on Highway 30 approaching the intersection with Rocky Point Road when the two left rear wheels came off.
The vehicle's driver, 33-year old Moises Lara-Garcia, pulled the vehicle into the center left continuous turn lane median and stopped.
A Ford F250 pickup driven by 26-year old Jaramillo Gonzalez with two other occupants was westbound and struck one of the wheels, causing the pickup to veer to the left into the center median and crash into the back of the transport bus.
Multiple emergency response agencies responded to the scene including five ambulances. The fourteen occupants were transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital, Oregon Heath Sciences University, Providence Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Oregon State Police troopers from the St. Helens work site are continuing the investigation. No citations have been issued.
