(BANKS, Ore.) - Two Banks-area residents, including an 8-month pregnant woman, died Sunday night after losing control of their car and crashing into another vehicle on Highway 6 near Banks.
Preliminary investigation by Oregon State Police troopers indicates that Sunday at approximately 10:25 PM, a 1989 Volvo 740 four-door driven by 28-year old Misty L. White was eastbound on Highway 6 near milepost 50 when it lost control on an icy section.
The vehicle hit the eastbound guardrail and traveled back across the highway into the westbound lane where it crashed into a 2007 Hyundai driven by 19-year old Matthew S. Olson of Forest Grove.
White, who was eight months pregnant, and right front passenger, 41-year old Martin J. Arthur, both of Banks, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers report that Martin Arthur is the father of Misty White's unborn child. Safety restraint use is to be determined.
Misty White's 4-year old son, Conner White, was in the right rear seating position in a child safety seat. He received serious injury and was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.
Martin Arthur's 16-year old nephew, Tyler Arthur, was in the left rear seating position using a safety belt. He was transported by Metro West ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with a possible injury.
Olson was using safety restraints and was not injured.
