(SALEM, Ore. ) - Democratic presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton square off today in Ohio, Texas, Vermont and Rhode Island.
The two campaigns are focused on the big prizes of Texas and Ohio, where Obama could knock out Clinton, or Clinton could rally her lagging campaign back to life.
The pressure is mounting on Clinton to drop out, but the New York Senator is pinning her hopes on the two states to turn the tide against Obama, who has won 11 successive primary and caucus victories in the battle for the Democratic nomination. Most of the media says Clinton must win both or either Texas or Ohio to ensure she has a fighting chance in Pennsylvania on April 22.
Polls show tight races in both Texas and Ohio. Up for grabs is Texas' 228 and Ohio's 164 Democratic delegates.
Clinton is getting help from an unlikely source: conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.
CNN is reporting that Limbaugh has been actively urging his Texas listeners to cross over and vote for Clinton in that state's open primary Tuesday, arguing it helps the Republicans if the Democratic race remains unsettled for weeks to come.
"I want Hillary to stay in this…this is too good a soap opera," Limbaugh told fellow conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham on Fox News Friday. He reiterated the comments on his Monday show and replayed the exchange with Ingram.
