Salem, Portland, and Medford all hit all time high average diesel prices today.
(SALEM, Ore. ) - The pain at the pumps continues -- especially for those who fill up with diesel.
The national average for a gallon of diesel went over $4 today to $4.03.
In Oregon, the average statewide price was just barely under the $4 a gallon mark at $3.99, a new record high for the state.
However some areas of the state are seeing average Diesel prices over $4 a gallon. Medford-Ashland and Eugene-Springfield are at $4.01, Portland-Vancouver is just at the $4 mark, while Salem is just under $4 at 3.98 a gallon.
Oklahoma has the nation's cheapest average price for diesel at $3.84, while New York has the highest at $4.33 a gallon.
Analysts say new federal low sulfur guidelines for diesel fuel used in newer vehicles, and a heavy demand for diesel fuel in Europe have caused the prices to rise.
Salem-News.com found the highest diesel price in the Salem-Keizer area at the Mission Street Shell at $4.10 a gallon. The Pilot Travel Center in Brooks had the lowest price at $3.73 a gallon.
