(ALBANY) - The Albany Fire Department`s Dalmatian, Ember, is retiring from her school duties after 12 years with the Department.
Ember has been a huge asset to Albany`s education program put on by the Albany Fire Department every year. She has attended over 1,600 classroom presentations and many other special events in the community.
One of Ember`s many talents while at school is the `Stop, Drop, and Roll." Another is her ability to choose between a stuffed animal and a cigarette lighter when asked which one is the safest; Ember always picks the stuffed animal.
Ember will be 12 years old on June 23rd; that`s 84 in dog years. She will remain involved in the Department for special events. Ember will be spending her retirement at the home of her handler, Wanda Omdahl, where she currently resides.
