Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and drive with caution if traveling through higher elevations.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon Highway 6, the Wilson River Highway, closed to all traffic for several hours today at the summit near mile post 34, after multiple crashes due to winter conditions. Traffic to and from the coast should use U.S. 26, the Sunset Highway.
The Wilson River Highway closed from mile posts 22 – 34.5, about halfway between Portland and Tillamook, and recently reopened after crews were able to clear the snow and ice from the road surface. Icy conditions have caused multiple vehicle accidents approaching the coast range summit.
Crews finished this round of roadway plowing, but motorists are still advised to use alternate routes and drive with caution if traveling through higher elevations.
