Salem Man Arrested on Drug, Gun and Warrant Charges

The suspect was located around 3:30 PM Wednesday at a residence in the 1100 block of Ruge Street NW in Salem, according to Anglemier.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police detectives say they arrested a man Wednesday over an assault investigation involving drugs. 42-year old Eugene Avery Schott of Salem was taken into custody at 3:30 PM.

Salem Police Lt. Jim Anglemier says Schott had been involved in a assault incident where he is alleged to have threatened and strike another subject with a firearm.

"Schott also had an outstanding parole violation arrest warrant and an extensive criminal history involving convictions involving Drug, Stolen Auto, Theft, Forgery and ID Theft offenses."

Anglemier says a focused effort in locating Schott was put forth due to the violence involved in the assault and for public safety concerns.

Schott was located around 3:30 PM Wednesday at a residence in the 1100 block of Ruge Street NW in Salem, according to Anglemier.

"Schott had agreed to deliver a small quantity of methamphetamine to a Detective. The meet with Schott was conducted at which time he was taken into custody without incident."

During a search, he says a small firearm was located and is currently being further investigated to determine if it was the firearm used in the assault incident.

Schott was transported and booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of Parole Violation - No Bail, Conspiracy to Deliver Methamphetamine - $500,000 Bail and Conspiracy to Deliver Methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school - $500,000 Bail.

Additional charges from the assault incident are pending.
