Grants Pass Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash

Police say the roadway was covered in snow and slush and it was snowing hard at the time of the crash.

(GRANTS PASS, Ore.) - Police say a Grants Pass man was killed in a single vehicle crash this afternoon on SR140 near milepost 21, about 24 miles east of Medford.

Sergeant Tanya Henderson with Oregon State Police says that at approximately 2:08 PM today, a Chevrolet pick-up was westbound on SR140, when according to witnesses, the driver lost control and crossed the oncoming lane of travel before leaving the roadway.

Henderson says the driver died at the scene. At the time of the crash, the roadway was covered in snow and slush and it was snowing hard.

The name of the driver is being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members. The driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Central Point Area Command are completing the investigation. Lake Creek Fire Department, Fire District 3, Mercy Flights Ambulance, ODOT and Dick's Towing all provided assistance at the scene.
