Fibromyalgia: It is Real and Successfully Treatable

Dr. Phillip Leveque Salem-News.com

Phillip Leveque has spent his life as a Combat Infantryman, Physician, Toxicologist and Pharmacologist.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - After teaching physiology, pharmacology and toxicology in medical schools for about 25 years, I finally became a physician. I had an increasing number of fibromyalgia patients before the condition had a name. And it was one of the "it's all in your head" syndromes.

These patients have been seriously misdiagnosed and mistreated or mal-treated for decades.

When the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act made medical marijuana legal, and two of it's main acceptable conditions were pain and spasms, previously diagnosed fibromyalgia patients started coming in.

Most told me they had discovered for themselves that cannabis/marijuana gave better relief than any prescription medicine. They wanted to become "legal" for this otherwise illicit and berated "devil drug".

Oregon now has about 20 thousand legalized patients. Approximately one hundred of them are my successfully treated fibromyalgia patients.
