They're under new ownership and Salem Harley-Davidson is becoming a world class dealership.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A celebration at Salem Harley-Davidson drew motorcycle enthusiasts from all over western Oregon Saturday. Their capitol city dealership is in its second year of new ownership and they aren’t sparing any expense at putting the location on the map. The former Walker Cycle dealership existed here for four decades, and its popularity has grown with many new additions.

They couldn’t have picked a better day for the event; the sun has been scarce in Oregon for the last six months. A rock band was putting out one tune after another, and people took in the sites only available at an event like this.

It was a also a good time to celebrate a new line of choppers they began carrying from southern California called Big Bear Cycles.

Tom McCreery and Gordon Eiland are of the owners of Salem Harley-Davidson. Along with their General Manager Clif Fodge, the company will be paying attention to some of Salem’s biggest needs; ones that go beyond making money and selling motorcycles.

While details are too early to announce, this dealership will be getting involved with a specific local charity so they can put something back into the community, it is an announcement that will be released soon.

Eiland says that dollar for dollar, they are the best deal in custom bikes and they are stunning in terms of design and finish. Big Big Choppers are powered by S&S engines, similar in design to a Harley-Davidson's.

One of the Big Bear Choppers from Southern Cal.There are many changes in the Harley-Davidson motorcycle over the years, and it has become increasingly better and more reliable with time. It’s the premiere American motorcycle and one of the most diverse brands.

While it’s not about politics, you won’t find a Harley event without people who support Americans in uniform and veterans.

A motorcycle club called The Northwest Veterans was there to gather signatures on banners that they send overseas to our troops. The best part about it is that people are definitely paying attention and supporting their important cause, according to club member Billy Staggs.

The party at Salem Harley-Davidson is the celebration of an American marquee. The Big Bear Choppers are like rolling art, and with gas prices nearing four dollars a gallon, motorcycles are sure to be more popular than ever.

You can see the lineup at their showroom on Silverton Road in Salem, Oregon. The celebration continues on Sunday, check it out if you can!
