Shooting in Dundee Leads to Closure of Highway

No arrest has been made, and police say suspect information is still being compiled.

(DUNDEE, Ore.) - A shooting last night sent Newberg-Dundee Police officers to Lumpy's Tavern on Highway 99W in Dundee at about 11:45 PM. A phone call alerted them to the presence of a shooting victim at the tavern.

Police say the investigation required the closing of Hwy 99W overnight through Dundee. The highway was reopened about 7:15 AM Today.

Police say the victim, 46-year old Grant Leroy Herring of Dundee, reportedly entered the tavern with a gunshot wound. He was flown to a Portland area hospital by Life Flight. His condition is not known.

The investigation is continuing, now centering in a several block area around the tavern. Several side streets will remain closed through the morning.

No arrest has been made. Suspect information is still being compiled.

The investigation is being headed by the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, assisted by the Yamhill County Major Crime Response Team, comprised of the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office, Oregon State Police, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, McMinnville Police and Amity Police Departments.
