Highway 26 is closed in both directions with a detour using Barlow Trail Road

(WELCHES, Ore.) - Police say a tanker trailer loaded with approximately 4,000 gallons of gasoline separated from the semi truck that was hauling it this morning and crashed off the side of Highway 26. It happened about 1 1/2 miles west of Welches Road on Highway 26, which remains closed as the company is off-loading the remaining gasoline into another tanker trailer and ODOT has a detour in place.

Oregon State Police Recruit Trooper Ted Moisan says that at approximately 5:40 AM, a Cascade Petroleum Transportation company tanker truck pulling a tanker trailer was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 39 when the trailer separated from the tanker truck.

The trailer crashed off the eastbound shoulder and reportedly damaged a PGE power pole and lines. The trailer was leaking about 5 gallons per minute according to fire and police personnel on scene.

As a result of the crash, Highway 26 is closed in both directions with a detour using Barlow Trail Road.

The Hoodland Fire Department is assisting and monitoring while the company is off-loading the remaining gasoline onto another tanker trailer brought to the scene.

PGE is on scene handling issues related to the power pole and power lines.

Police say no one was injured and no citations have been issued.
