Police say the man also possessed meth and a weapon called a Sap which is illegal for a felon to possess.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A Longview-area man who was wanted for escape out of Washington State was arrested Sunday night by Oregon State Police during a traffic stop east of Interstate 205 in southeast Portland.
OSP Spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says last night at approximately 11:00 PM, OSP Senior Trooper Brandi Zeckman stopped a 1990 Acura four-door displaying Oregon license plates on SE Stark Street at SE 97th Avenue for failure to use safety restraints and other traffic violations.
The car's driver, 31-Year old Tye Lain Sibley of Longview, Washington was arrested after the trooper learned he was listed as a potentially violent fugitive wanted out of Washington for Escape by the Washington State Department of Corrections.
Hastings says that during the stop the trooper also found in the car a Sap, a restricted weapon for which it is unlawful for a felon to possess, and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Sibley was arrested and taken to the Multnomah County Jail for being a Fugitive From Justice, Unlawful Possession of a Restricted Weapon by a Felon, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
