Investigators say a party the woman held led to the rape of a 13-year old girl.
(LYONS, Ore.) - The Administrator for the City of Lyons, Mary Martha Mitchell, has been arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors, in an incident that allegedly involved the forcible rape of a 13-year old girl.
Linn County's Sheriff Tim Mueller, says his deputies are investigating the incident involving 49-year old Mary Martha Mitchell.
"The sheriff’s office recently became aware of this upon receiving an anonymous letter from a concerned citizen.
"The letter stated in August of 2008, Mitchell held a party at her residence where she allowed several teenagers to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana," Mueller said.
It was further reported that several minors as young as 13 years of age were heavily intoxicated and that one 13-year-old female was forcibly raped while at the party.
The letter indicated this was not the first time this type of party was allowed at the Mitchell home.
Mueller says deputies investigating the incident arrested Mitchell on November 24th 2008 for two counts of Providing Alcohol to Minors and lodged her in the Linn County Jail.
Mitchell’s husband, 44-year old Daniel Lee Mitchell, was also charged with Providing Alcohol to Minors. He was cited to appear in Circuit Court.
Mueller says the investigation is continuing and if anyone has any further information about this incident they are encouraged to contact Detective Steve Looney at the Linn County Sheriff's Office at 541-967-3950.
