Fire and police officials in Oregon are asking drivers to slow down and avoid becoming a statistic.
(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - Firefighters from Forest Grove Fire & Rescue responded to multiple cars wrecks on Wednesday due to icy road conditions, according to Fire Inspector Matt Johnston.
The first two of the four accidents occurred in the four o'clock hour Wednesday morning. One was a head-on accident and the other was a rollover, both accidents were non-injury.
Johnston says the third and fourth accidents occurred on NW Wilson River Highway just miles apart. The third accident was reported of a van rolled over and off the road; the call came in at 11:19 AM and was reported at Milepost 35. The first unit arriving on the scene minutes later found a full-size van on its roof in a ditch. The driver, who was able to exit the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The fourth wreck came in at 12:10 PM and was reported as a rollover of a sedan at Milepost 33 Fire crews were still in the area returning from the previous wreck and arrived shortly after at 12:19 PM. They found a small sedan on its roof on the side of the road with the driver laying down being tended to by ODOT workers and bystanders.
Johnson said the driver was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. All four accidents appeared to be caused by slippery road conditions caused by ice."
