	        <description> Fire officials in Albany had the sad task of searching for missing children after a vehicle was washed out of a grocery store parking lot, into a creek swollen by heavy rains, and under the intersection of SE Geary St &amp; Queen Ave SE.

Wanda Omdahl with Albany Fire, says rescue crews responded to the scene and one adult and one child were pulled out of the water on the other side of the bridge.

	        <description> On Thursday, at about 11:00 a.m., Albany Police Officers arrested 26-year-old Albany resident Erica Michelle Olsen in connection with an ongoing animal neglect investigation.

Erica Olsen was lodged in the Linn County Jail on a charge of Animal Neglect in the First Degree and an unrelated Linn County warrant charging Fail to Comply.</description>

	        <description> This morning at 2:06am the Albany Fire Department was called to a vacant house fire at 6061 Columbus ST SE. 

The house at this address is the seventh suspicious house fire since late October; six vacant and one that had occupants. The house on Columbus was built in the late 1890's by the grandparents of the owner, Kent Chapman. </description>

	        <title> Discount Cigarettes Store in Albany Robbed - Suspect Sought</title> 
	        <description> On Saturday at about 7:00 p.m., the Albany Police Department responded to the Discount Cigarettes store located at 2850 SE Santiam Highway on the report of an armed robbery. The lone store employee told police the store had been robbed.

The employee reported that a male suspect entered the store and pulled a stocking cap down over his face. The employee reported that the suspect displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from her. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash after which time the suspect left the store and ran east through the parking lot.</description>

	        <description> The Oregon Air National Guard will conduct Veterans Day flyovers for various ceremonies at locations throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.

F-15 Eagle fighter jets from the 142nd Fighter Wing in Portland and the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field are scheduled to conduct flyovers at the following locations and approximate times: 

All passes will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground level and 350 knots airspeed. Flights could be cancelled or times changed due to inclement weather or operational contingencies.</description>

	        <description> The sixth Albany area summit on homelessness will happen Wednesday, from 9 a.m.-noon at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin Street SW. Representatives of organizations and agencies that work directly with Albany's homeless and low-income residents will attend, with this year's focus on the "new homeless:" those in or near homelessness due to the ongoing economic downturn.
 
Rick Crager, deputy director of Oregon Housing and Community Services, will give a keynote address. Groups and individuals involved in initiatives in the Albany area will give updates on those projects including supportive housing for women in transition; a new children's dental clinic;  and the Adult Services Team that works with individuals or couples who have been hard to house. </description>

	        <title> Special Olympics Oregon Fall Regional Games Held Statewide</title> 
	        <description> Several communities throughout Oregon will once again host Special Olympics Oregon Fall Regional Games on consecutive weekends in Late October and November. More than 2,000 athletes will compete in one of 10 competitions in seven cities. Hundreds of coaches, volunteers and families will join in to support competitors. 

The Fall Regional Games, presented by Les Schwab Tire Centers, officially begins Sunday, October 31 with a bowling competition at Lakeshore Lanes in Albany.  Regional competitions continue the following weekend with Corvallis hosting aquatics on Saturday, November 6 and soccer and volleyball on Sunday, November 7.  Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham will also host aquatics on November 7.   November 13 &amp; 14 will conclude the fall season with bowling competitions in Beaverton, Bend, Hermiston, Medford and Portland. </description>

	        <title> Albany Traffic Accident Requires Fire Department to Rescue Occupant from a Pickup Truck in Periwinkle Creek</title> 
	        <description> The Albany Fire Department responded to the 1500 block of Pacific Blvd. SE at 10:10 a.m. today to a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle in Periwinkle Creek. Firefighters arrived at scene within approximately two minutes to find that a pickup truck with a single occupant had left the roadway and come to rest upright about 15 to 20 feet down in the creek bed in approximately one foot of water.

Firefighters immediately stabilized the vehicle, removed the top of the cab, and worked with specialized tools for about 14 to 16 minutes to extricate the occupant. One person was evaluated at the scene and transported to the hospital. No other injuries resulted from this incident.</description>

	        <title> Gas Main Break in Albany Results in Evacuation</title> 
	        <description> The Albany Fire Department responded to 3850 Oakmont Loop NE at approximately 10:32 a.m. today to a reported natural gas line break in a residential neighborhood. 

Firefighters arrived at the scene within approximately four minutes to find a broken two-inch gas main damaged by a private contractor while excavating a trench for installation of utilities for a house to be constructed at that location. There was no fire as a result of this incident and crews from NW Natural Gas were at the scene on our arrival.</description>

	        <title> Serious Injury Traffic Crash West of Lebanon on Highway 34</title> 
	        <description> Two people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 34 about one mile west of Lebanon. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Brad Hales, on October 5, 2010 at approximately 4:40 p.m. a 2009 Toyota Prius four-door driven by Alma Mix, age 45, from Albany, was eastbound on Highway 34 near milepost 16 when, for an unknown reason, it traveled into the westbound lane collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota pickup driven by Daniel Rackham, age 27, from Albany.</description>

	        <title> Building Under Construction in Albany Collapses</title> 
	        <description> The Albany Fire Department responded to 1310 Geary Street SE at 1:05 p.m. today to a reported structural collapse.  Firefighters arrived at the site of the new Aspen Dental building within approximately five minutes to find the roof trusses had collapsed into a building currently under construction.

Firefighters determined workers for Mainline Construction of Mission Viejo, CA, were installing roof trusses on the structure and that three persons were on or in the structure at the time of the collapse.  One worker was evaluated by firefighters, and no one was transported from the scene.</description>
