<description> Just enough rain to keep it fresh, and all the games, rides, food and entertainment kids young and old could hope for were on the agenda Sunday.

A state fair to remember.

Parking at the fair was free this year, helping offset the costs for families who visited from all over Oregon and beyond. Most of all the fair is about kids. And every age every size, and every type made it and had a fantastic time enjoying the many things to see and do.

<description> More than 365,000 people attended the 2008 Oregon State Fair according to estimates released by organizers, who noted the 2.4 percent increase over 2007’s attendance would have been even larger had there not been two days of "liquid sunshine".

A few raindrops weren't enough to keep most Oregonians away. They say that overall, more people found the fair too big to miss; they came, stayed longer, returned for another day, and attended concerts more than ever before.</description>

<title> Marion County Fair is Dog-Gone great with Muddy Paws A-Flyin'</title>
<description> As many as 100 dogs and their owners from the group Muddy Paws A-Flyin' will compete in flyball on Saturday, July 15th, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the Marion County Fair on the State Fairgrounds in Salem.

"Flyball is the fastest paced dog sport there is. You can see how much fun these dogs are having just by looking and by listening to them," says Ed Clarkson, Muddy Paws representative. "There's very little that can compare with this style of head-to-head racing. Some races are won by hundredths, even thousandths of a second."

Flyball is a relay race with four dogs per team. The course consists of a starting line, four hurdles spaced ten feet apart, and a spring-loaded box. Each dog jumps the hurdles and steps on the box causing it to shoot out a tennis ball. The dog catches that tennis ball and then runs back over the four hurdles.
