	        <description> Peregrine falcons, mule deer, and wildlife area parking permits are on the agenda for the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission’s first meeting of the new year on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at ODFW Headquarters, 3406 Cherry Ave NE, Salem.

The Commission will be asked to adopt a parking permit program for 11 additional ODFW wildlife areas. (Sauvie Island Wildlife Area has had a permit program in place since 1990.) Under the staff proposal, wildlife area visitors would be required to purchase either a $7 daily parking permit or a $22 annual permit.</description>

	        <title> Recreational White Sturgeon Fishery Closes on Willamette River</title> 
	        <description> Oregon fishery managers announced today the closure of recreational sturgeon fishing on the Willamette River downstream from the Willamette Falls, including Multnomah Channel and the Gilbert River.

According to fishery managers, the closure is needed to remain near the guideline of 3,600 fish set earlier this year. 

“For 2010, white sturgeon harvest guidelines were reduced 40 percent because of declining trends in numbers of fish,” said John North, fisheries manager for ODFW’s Ocean Salmon and Columbia River Program.</description>

	        <description> This is the last weekend of the season to fish for wild coho in the Coquille River. Beginning Monday, Oct. 11, the fishery will beodfw closed because the harvest quota of 1,200 fish is projected to be met, ODFW fishery managers said.
 
"Earlier this week, the harvest estimate approached 80 percent of the allowable quota. With the rains coming Friday night, coho will be on the move and, with higher weekend effort, we're projecting a high catch rate this weekend," said Mike Gray, ODFW fish biologist. "It's been a fantastic season, and we're glad we could give people the opportunity to take a wild coho salmon."</description>
